I'm prescribed 300mg of gabaoentin now & I am fairly scared to take it, I'm 115 lbs & have chronic pain in my feet/hands.. What should I expect?
Hi there, OK firstly I am very familiar with Gabapentin as iv been taking 900mg 4 times pair day so that's 3600mg daily for spinal stenosis and 2 collapsed L4/L5 disks in my spinal and to help with sciatica in my left leg, iv been on for about 3 years now so I think I can give some advice. First thing I would say is that everyone reacts or has different effects from medication so this is an important fact when taking advice from others, but what I can say is not to worry too much about taking 300mg as this is quite a very small starting dose and shouldn't cause any harmful effects but if you do experience bad side effects go back to you doctor first don't just stop taking them as it can be dangerous to just stop Gabapentin suddenly but as I said 300mg is a small dose so I would say don't worry too much just take your medicine as it could help with your pain. I personally find that I still am in pain but the Gabapentin deffinetly helps my mind cope with the daily pain even when I don't always think it's working but you might find that you feel alittle light headed or moody when you first start to take it but after about 1 month your body will get used to it and you should feel better and you will probably need to increase your dose as your body will become used to the dose. So too be honest try the medication I would say up to 300mg daily then if your still in pain go to your doctor and ask him to increase to 300mg 3 times pair day which should help you cope with your pain but only if your body con tolerate that dose but I wouldn't worry about 300mg daily as that's just a low starter dose which shouldn't cause you any problems unless you are sensitive to the medication which if you do get really bad side effects go back to your doctor straight away ok, hope this helps and I hope you can manage your pain, good luck and take care,
