I'm about to have a mechanical valve surgery that would require me to be on coumadin for life. On average I consume two beers a day, occasionally a measure of liquor as well, would this still be okay on coumadin? If not, what would be safe?

I am convinced that this life is about moderation in border-line areas. My doctor does not fight me because I have a great history of consistency in my INR numbers. You can't afford to go overboard on anything now. Develop a good program with your doctors and add things on one at a time.
