I use Virgin Coconut Oil for several things but I hear people are having success with eating 1 or 2 tsp or tbsp. a day to loose weight successfully.
I have had my Thyroid out and my metabolism is so slow I cannot loose any weight whatsoever. I have no problem gaining though. Ugh!
Has anyone tried this yet. Thanks for replies!
Hi. I happened to see a brief part of Dr Oz who was talking about it. It works with a careful diet with lots of fruits and vegetables. It was maybe a month or so ago. Probably can go to his site to get details.
Since no food on its own will help you to lose weight, I believe that it is all about balance. You know, lots of natural fiber with natural sugars rather than prepackaged foods and sweeteners, artificial or not. The latest tip was a dietician on Today Show who said having a brothy soup before eating a meal helps one eat less and still feel full. Not a cream soup, ha ha.
When I stopped drinking soda I lost ten pounds fairly quickly. Later with the Diabetes I was glad it was already out of my life. Personally I think picking something like that, or sweet tea, or diet sodas, will lead to slow weight loss. Then pick something else. To me that is easier than some kind of diet. Just don't like feeling deprived. Then when I do have that donut or Birthday cake, I can handle it without needing too much. Sweets start tasting unbearably sweet once they are reduced from the diet. Just some thoughts to share.
The coconut oil is used like butter. It metabolizes different from butter and that is how it helps. Not much is needed and it satiates the food desire faster. Hence less eaten in general, and less calories means less weight.
Let me know what you think. The amount you mention is what I recall to use per day. Supposed to be good on toast as well as cooking. Karen
i had a person tell me that the HCG hormone diet helped her "reset" her metabolism, but frankly i think the hormone is misplaced when it doesnt actually come from a mothers real pregnancy... i really like Dr. OZ'S different shows om how to kickstart the metabolism
coconut oil is too high in saturated and other 'not good for you oils'. There used to be a product called MCT oil, MEDIUM CHAIN GLYCERIDE OIL made from coconut which was great for strenuous workouts, however, I have not seen that oil any more. That is the only type of coconut oil that I would consume.

My acupuncturist recommended this for inflammation and every ill under the sun. She really loves it and puts it in her coffee, uses it to cook with, etc.
So I go out and buy a giant container, as she has instructed me to eat big giant tablespoons several times a day. (This was before I was taking giant amounts of Gabapentin and wasn't gaining weight.) The first spoonful made me sick, I barfed!!! Now I can't even look at that giant jar of the stuff, or it makes me ill!
I wasted a bit of money on it, but now my daughter is into it so, I'm fine with that. At least it won't go in the trash. But, if she leaves that jar on the counter...
Your friend, your gross friend,
P.S. it really IS good for us, or so I've heard and read, so get a SMALL jar to start with, see if you can keep it down. : )
Hello sweet SH,
I haven't heard of this yet, so the info on these replies is very interesting to me. I could stand to lose 15 + 10 + 10 pounds (sneaky huh? It just looks like fewer pounds that way! hehe) Can I buy it at a health foods store? If not, where can I buy a small jar --- per Lara's recommendation. Haha
