What are the symptoms of a mini stroke? I have had arthritis in my right hand yesterday morning when I woke up, the major numbness in the left side of my face from my cheek bone to right above my jaw line, last Sunday, ( goes away after 5 mintues), MAJOR dizziness, almost went to the ER last Sunday. The back of my legs ache a bit. Could this be due to anxiety? I have been urinating like CRAZY this whole week! My eyes feel almost numb, too. I can walk, talk; no slurring of speech or anything like that. Major heat wave in Chicago. 101 degrees.
It doesn't sound like a mini stroke. It sounds more like you might be getting dehydrated & that would cause the cramping & with the heat as bad as it is & you urinating alot you might have s heat stroke.
You need to go see the Dr. to have them check you out. Usually with mini strokes you can have the worst severe headache you have ever had. Or you get numbness in a part of your body but the symptoms usually go away fairly qu them quickly.
I strongly suggest you go to the dr. & have them give you some answers.
I have to respectfully disagree with butterfly. Facial numbness CAN be a sign of TIA or mini stroke! Headache can occur but not always. I saw your other post and actually TIA was one of the first things I thought about. Symptoms can be numbness and/or weakness on one side of the body, confusion, garbled speech, dizziness, loss of consciousness, difficulty with memory and/or speech. When your face feels numb, does that side of your face look droopy in the mirror? If yes, then you are most probably having TIA's and a person may get many TIA's before a major CVA or full blown stroke. The main difference between TIA and stroke is that TIA's resolve. A true stroke will not resolve-there is permanent damage. If this happens again, you need to call 911! If you are truly having a stroke, time is of the essence! The sooner they can get medications in you, the less damage will occur! These are serious symptoms so do not feel silly or worry that you are calling 911 frivolously.
It is better to be safe than sorry. Even if these symptoms dont occur, you still ned to notify your physician TODAY!! He will want to do some scans of your brain and the blood vessels in your neck to see what may be causing these symptoms. You NEVER want to ignore symptoms like these and try to explain them off as something else. You need to be evaluated. High levels of anxiety and stress can absolutely preceed a TIA so if you have been anxiuos and stressed lately, there is even more reason for you to be evaluated by the Dr. I hope, truly, that it is nothing serious but again, it is better to be safe than sorry.
I agree with DZoo!! Facial numbness or tingling is a BIG sign of a possible stroke. Don't take any chances!!! I was just checking stroke symptoms for my sister a few days ago, and facial numbness/paralysis was #1 symptom along with speech difficulties, weakness in arm(s) or leg(s), uneven tongue, when you stick it out, severe headache. Please, call your doctor at once and don't feel like you are being a pain!! Best of luck to you!!
