Is every 30 minutes lockout possible on a PCA pump?

Yes, 30 min lockout is possible with PCA pumps. But sometimes that sort of time lag between doses may not be sufficient for good pain control. Sometimes one or two does given closer together will give enough medicine to cover the pain, and that way the patient may not need any doses for a long time.

In saying this, it also depends on the dose that is delivered in each push. If the dose is high then yes, it may be necessary to have a time lag of 30mins between pushes.
