I have severe anxiety about hormone replacement therapy. After my hysterectomy my dr put me on estradiol, then premarin finally estrogen. Currently I'm taking none and suffering from depression, anxiety, low sex drive, & terrible bouts of sleeplessness.
Wow. That is a lot to handle. First, we want you better. Second, you gotta get control of the anxiety. There are very good meds to take for a while so you can sort things out. Third, if you quit any of those hormones cold turkey, you will have the type of problems like sleeplessness and anxiety you are already experiencing.
When hormones are out of balance, the whole body can suffer. This takes time to calm down and get back to a better feeling. I have used antidepressants to get me through menopause. I used hormones. I also learned to adjust to all the mood swings. But it is too difficult to do all at once. Get to a good gynecologist or internal med doc and have them help you. And take a friend, spouse who can take notes for you so you don't forget anything. And your list of symptoms and questions.
Answers are out there for you. You will get better. A psychiatrist could get you the proper meds to get you through, as well. They do far more prescribing than therapy. And if you need someone to talk this through, do that too.
Sounds like a lot, right? One step at a time. you will get better. Stay in touch.
