Hi. When do you give up on the med and try another? 6 weeks, 8 weeks. I really want this one to work. Feeling totally anxious with the increase to 15. Why does cipralex add anxiety when that is what you are trying to lessen Feeling anxious and blue today. Need some reassurance. Thanks
Hi, Gej! Generally, it takes four to six weeks to feel significant improvement and six to eight weeks to reach therapeutic levels, so it does take a little time and patience. Quite often when the drug is reported to *kick in* early it's due purely to a placebo effect ~ the user WANTS it to start working ~ and is followed by a depressing crash and episodes of increased depression/anxiety.
There is no medical/metabolic reason for it not to work on a second go round.
Think positive but don't get ahead of yourself and be willing to give it a fair trial. Cipralex (Lexapro) is an excellent medication for both depression and anxiety and you'll probably be surprised at how well it works for you.
Best regards, Wildcat
