... difference and am still bleeding. My 3rd infusion is the 16th. Should I have seen improvement by now? Also is what u eat an important factor on healing
Hi Mel1351, I have moderate to severe Crohns disease mostly on my left side too Although now it seems to have spread throughout my entire colon. Always been worst on left side since I got it 30 years ago.. Started treatment in June, 2015 Started seeing improvement with bowels after about three months. My Doctor told me it only works for about 60% of the people. Ironically it is also described as a drug for colitis, yet I am taking it for Crohns due to other illnesses and lack of drug choices. I believe that everything we eat is so important. Most Doctors say, just eat what ever you can. That is because there is nothing specific for any one person. Everyone is different and respond differently even though it's the same disease.I have, over the past two years switched soley to all organic foods, if you can find them. I do notice a change, especially if I eat dinner out I always get sick the next day with lots of Diarrhea. The food in our country is filled with chemicals that cause so many illnesses including ours. I constantly research food and health. I hope you don't drink any soda as I just red some bad things about bromine that are in Powerade, gatorade and coke,, etc. and a wealth of other things other than foods. Bromine is banned in Europe and France, but not here. So challenging to try to make all these changes in our lives while living with such a horrible disease. Hard enough just to make it through each day. With the Entyvio, I can't say its healed me completely . I've noticed some changes in my body for the better. I'm having more good days, than bad. Less Diarrhea then before. I ended up needing it every 6 weeks as I started getting very sick for exactly two weeks prior to my last two infusions. So now I am taking it every 6 weeks and I'm due for my next infusion this thursday. So this will be my 8th infusion. Perhaps you need it more often as well. Or sad to say that you might just be in the 40th percentile of people it doesn't work for. I pray that is not the case. All I can say is that stress, and the food we eat have the biggest component to our overall health with this disease. and be sure to get lots of rest. that is so important. Praying that the CCFA will be finding more drug options and or cures within the next several years as they just received a huge donation. For now, for me, Entyvio is my only drug choice left. I am getting a colonoscopy the beginning of March to see if things have changed on my insides from one year ago. will report back with those updates. I will be praying for you as well that this drug will help you soon. De-stress is the key component in my life. Also some healthy sunshine which is lacking for me in the northeast winters. I also added some strange yet interesting things to my diet in the form of supplements from a company called Tropical Traditions. I just started using something called Dt. kaayla Daniels Vital Proteins. Since I started them my bowel movements have changed dramatically. Some days I don't even have a BM!!! Pretty amazing considering I was up to 20 per day. The Entyvio did lower my Diarrhea to 2x a day with one or two normal BM as well. Now with these vital proteins, I have had completely formed normal stools. I'm also taking something called Mt. Capra goats milk colostrum. I use the powdered form. Its supposed to help build a strong immune system. Seems to be helping as well. And giving me more energy.A little pricey, but worth a try. They are both helping me immensely. I also started seeing a chiropractor and that has also helped with eveything too. Never believed in that before, but I can't tell you the positive changes I've been experiencing overall. So for me to say its all from the Entyvio, that's tough to say as I've incorporated all these other things during the same time preriod. Also, ask you doctor if you can take it more frequently as some people need different doses. Don't know what other drugs you have been on in the past, but maybe this isn't the right one for you??? Just throwing that out as a last resort. Stay in touch, and update me when you can. Peace be with you.
