... Hi, I was diagnosed with RA 6 years ago. I just had my second little boy 6 weeks ago. I also have a two year old. I was devastated when I needed to stop nursing with my first child because of repeated flare ups that began about 5-6 weeks after his birth. I was on prednisone and with each flare up, my doctor increased the dose until I was on 40 mg and it was no longer safe for me to nurse. Now, with my second child, I have already had one flare up. I am currently on 15 mg. of Prednisone. I spoke to a woman on an infoline devoted to pregnant/nursing woman and medications. She thought that it would be safe to go back on Enbrel, which is what I was on prior to getting pregnant. She sent me some research with just a couple of infants, which states that they think the molecules are too big to pass into breastmilk. However, I am still hesitant. I am wondering if anyone with RA has had experience with Enbrel and nursing. I would LOVE to continue nursing my little one, but don't want to hurt him by going on a medication that isn't safe. So, if anyone has any information (either personal or from someone else) that you'd be willing to share with me, I would truly appreciate it. Thank you. Sharon
