I am a 38 yrs old male. I was diagnosed with AS 6 years ago. I have been on embrel for past 5 yrs and it worked wonders but while on Embrel I had uveitis 3 times and my rhemotologist recently sent me a research article from Oxford university that found out that Embrel aggravates uveitis. She wants me to switch to Humira instead but I am reluctant as Embrel worked so well for me. Anyone has similar experience?
I use Humira for Uvitis. The main reason for using these medications were to taper off and completely stop prednisone which has caused me a lot more problems. I've recently started taking Imuran twice a day, along w the Humira once every two weeks and things have never been better. I'm down to 10 mg of prednisone a day and working towards not at all. I use Ketorolac drops four x day for Uvitis, and like the other two medications its a non steroid anti inflamitory. This is crucial and should be any and all your concerns. I def would stop the Embril and start Humira. It is a very painful injection but only used twice a month. You can check out my YouTube video of how to use Humira,so you can see what to expect. Search Howefeltrsnatch or Ludekrs along w how to inject Humira. While other videos show people using it, I actually show step by step how and what to expect. Good luck, hope things get better.
