My Dr. put me on percocets 15 and Embeda 20 mg. I' am trying to find out what the ingredient Naltrexone does injunction with percocets and the morphine in the Embeda Caps. Thank You for any information you can give as my dr. does not have the time nor the bedside manner to keep me informed of what I'am putting in my body. Janetta
Embeda and Kadian are similar -both contain extended-release morphine, have similar dosing recommendations, and are indicated for moderate to severe pain that requires around-the-clock treatment.
Embeda differs from Kadian because it also contains a sequested core of naltrexone. Naltrexone in Embeda has no effect on the morphine or the oxycodone in Percocet --if swallowed whole. However, if the product is crushed, chewed, or dissolved the naltrexone is released and available to block some of the effects of the morphine (and other opioid medications).
