You can become dizzy, confused, off balance, and have difficulty talking.

Hi, war! Not a good idea. A boy in my group fell down a flight of stairs and got a skull fracture. This is from the Interactions Checker:
*Using venlafaxine together with ethanol can increase nervous system side effects such as dizziness, drowsiness, and difficulty concentrating. Some people may also experience impairment in thinking and judgment.*

They are right. Never mix alcohol and anti depressants.

I have been on Effexor XR for many years and I drink alcohol occasionally and it has never effected me in any way. I never let myself get out of control but I just came back from Hawaii and of course we had a good time and I am fine
