... How long until I feel better? Can I take it in the morning instead? I was told to take it the same time every day. I feel like crap. Thanks
This medication should start working in four to six weeks but also after your dose is at least 125, I have been on 225 for 20 months, my doctor said that higher doses are need for anxiety than depression. I felt terrible for a few weeks , and I started on 37.5, don't forget it comes in that small a cap. for when you go off it whether soon because it doesn't work for you or later .
As for time a day I have shifted mine around . At first I felt to strange and strung out to sleep on it and took it in the morning. Later I found I was less sleepy when I took it shortly before bed. Same time works best and is important to try for but if I forget it at bedtime and feel sick because of it I take it in the late morning that day and then afternoon the next and go back to evening the 3 td night.
Take care hope you feel better soon.
My doc has me take mine in the morning because it can be stimulating. I was told to take at the same time each day too so that must be important. They say 3-4 weeks to feel it start working. How are you feeling now since your entering your third week? Hope your well & hang in there!!!
Hi, Phlykat! You can take it anytime that works best for you, but take it at the same time each day. If you want to switch from evening to morning or mid-day try to allow at least 8 hours between doses.
Some people report feeling better as early as 2 weeks, but rule of thumb for most folks is 3-4weeks. Your therapeutic blood levels will continue to rise to their maximum in about 6-8 weeks.
You may feel some side effects ~ headache, dizziness, nausea, etc. ~ but these generally resolve within a few days to a week or so. You can use OTC remedies if needed. Ibuprofen, meclizine, Dramamine, Pepto-Bismol will probably help.
Best wishes and I hope the Effexor works as well for you as it did for me. Wildcat
