I've been on 37.5 for ten days and started 75 today. I have MDD and extreme anxiety.
bobby; With this medication one hard thing and this is why they start you on the lowest dose then up it as you go is lots of times the problems you have increase for a little while around 2 weeks then the side effects you get at the start get better some start feeling some relief at around 4 weeks but to get the full effect of this medication it is regular use you reach the full blood level at about 4 to 8 weeks and that is where you should feel better. As the doctor continues to increase the dose you may feel the return of the side effects you had when you started but they go away within a few weeks for most people and are not as severe when you are already taking the medication. So for most it can take up to 6 weeks to get the full benefits of this medication have a great day. Chuck1957
Bobby when I was prescribed Effexor I was told it would take 4 weeks to build up in my system. I was very ill and didn't know how I was going to make it through the night much less 4 weeks. I went to another md who gave me a prescription for some klonopin (valium) which kicks in immediately and at least allowed me to sleep. If you are having trouble with the wait, ask for that or some Remeron (mirtazipine) which also acts fast and helps you eat and sleep.
