I suffered from panic attacks and severe depression. With doctor's help tried to reduce dose but panic attacks came back so went back to 150. I'm concerned about long term effects on being on efexor xr150. Many thanks
Hi, kerry! I've been on 300mg daily for over 10yrs with no trouble. My doctor scripts bloodwork every 6mos or so just to keep an eye on everything ~ nothing.
A few long-term studies have been done which didn't show anything beyond possible weight gain, sexual dysfunction, and discontinuation syndrome ~ side effects we're well aware of anyway.
A few people reported some memory loss, but we experience memory loss over time with or without Effexor! LOL!
Best of luck to you! WCV
I have been on Effexor for 13 years. I came off twice and started having anxiety within a few months. So now I just admit I need the medication. I've managed to be on 37.5 mg for a few years now and it works wonders for me. I have had some memory loss where I struggle sometimes to find a word I know I should know but then again I'm 54 and expect that with age. Keeping my sanity is more important to me.
