... if one will do it for all
Hi, wondering! Effexor can help with anxiety, to some degree, and Bipolar depression but it can also aggravate or cause manic/hypomanic episodes. Bipolar disorder is complicated and sometimes you just have to stick with multiple medications.
Have you ever been on Lamictal or Trileptal, or the mood stabilizer lithium? It might be worth asking your doctor because an antidepressant alone just can't treat Bipolar disorder.
Best wishes, WCV
With meds like this it is imperative to follow the instructions of the Dr who prescribed them, and keep him in the loop so your care can continue in a consistent manner.
I have been on Effexor and have Bipolar with Depression. It won't work as a "one"pill. It may help with Depression but, clearly you need a mood stabilizer for the Bipolar. Also, I had a very hard time getting off Effexor withdrawal side effects. Wouldn't recommend it.
I hear you when you say you are tired of taking multiple pills and I feel the same way. Multiple pills and several times a day - what a drag. BUT on the other hand I sure don't want to go back to the way I was.
SO the direct answer to your question is no. Effexor is an antidepressant and if you have bipolar you can't take an antidepressant without a mood stabilizer although the Effexor should start to make you feel better (less down) which will be great for you.
