Now I'm on Prozac. Can anyone tell me if they had to go through this many meds? My symptoms have been going on for 10 months. I'm really scared.
I went through a lot before finding the right meds.Prozac worked good for me for a long time. It's a good medicine. Sometimes we have to go through a lot before finding the right one. I'm currently taking trazodone. Been on it for years. Along with Zoloft during the day. Stay on Prozac a while and if it doesn't work for you ask your doctor for something else. Paxil is also a good one. Good luck
I just started a new med tonight and I too am scared, the doc, she just goes down the list, next,,, no? ok we'll try this one instead. but i know she wants to help, they just have to sync you up with the right thing the right dose, give it a chance. At least a month, there is hope.
Good luck and Best wishes~BB
e mesa in 10 months indicates they are not being given enough time to work for you. So this time give this one time to work, initial adjustment is 2-3 weeks, for some 4-6 months with a target dosage being reached (after several adjustments made by the Dr) in 8 months. This will also alleviate your worries that nothing is working, because too short a time for each has you believing this.
Thats a lot of different anti depressants in 10 months. I was on a lot of different ones over 30 years of depression. Have you given each one long enough to work? Why does the doctor keep changing it?
Prozac was definitely the worse one I took, and Effexor the best. We all react differently, what suits one person may not suit another.
Hope the Prozac works for you.
Paxil, Zoloft, Cymbalta & Wellbutrin XL may help you with depression as well as anxiety.
I found it extremely rough while tapering off Cymbalta, which I'd been taking to manage chronic pain.
It's good that you & your doctor are working together to try to find the best fit for your needs. Some doctors don't listen & seem to be reluctant when their patients are asking for a change in meds. SSNRIs & SSRIs can take more than 8 weeks before their benefits are felt. Good luck to you in your quest!
