I have had 3 failed lower back surgeries and live with constan chronic pain. I have been taking this med combo for 2 yrs and it just isn't giving me relief anymore
Hello needoptions & welcome to the site. I completely understand how you feel. We chronic pain patents tend to build a tolerance to pain meds after a time at the same dose or the same drug. Also I don't know if you know this or not, but Opana had the formulary changed, & most patients are complaining that the new formula is not working as well as the old. Most pain docs know this, & have increased their dose to 3 times a day. 20mg is not a high dose, & maybe it needs to be increased. I suggest you talk to your pain doctor about this problem, & see if an increase or a change to a differnt long acting drug like oxycontin or MS Contin would work better for you. Lots of luck & best wishes...
Hello I take the same medications except I take 2 /40 mg a day of opana and 15 mg of oxycodone and I have found this combo is giving me excellent pain control. I did not schedule my pain specialist appt at the correct day a couple of months back and I wound up missing 2 days of the opana and I was, oh gosh, it hurt horribly... I still had a few of the oxys' left but I do not ever want to go through that again. My brother just did the fusion in his neck he is sibling number three of my family that had done that surgery. Its terrible to go through that kind of pain. So what you need to do is go up on both your oxys' and the opana that should get you a few more years of very good pain relief. Good Luck to you.
