Im doing a school project and i need some information about Concerta. Help?
Concerta (methylphenidate extended release) is a prescription medication used for the treatment of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in children, teens, and adults up to age 65. It is designed to be released slowly over time. Because the medication is released slowly, it can be taken just once a day, eliminating the need to take medication at school or work.
Because the medication is a stimulant and is commonly abused, there are special rules for prescribing it.
Concerta is a stimulant, although it has effects that are opposite from what would be expected of a stimulant. While stimulants (like caffeine) can cause hyperactivity, this medication has a calming effect. While the exact way the drug produces this effect is not known, it is known to affect certain chemicals in the brain.
Concerta is a tablet that is released in two stages: The outer part of the tablet dissolves quickly and releases an immediate dose. The inner part releases the rest of the medication slowly over time.
Hope the info helps? Take care, best wishes!
ld have to say it's a godsend if you do have adhd your brain is racing it allows you to focus you're nit on edge because you're able to focus and here's an interesting bit of information for you I get my best sleep what I call my power nap the first 2 hours after taking it. and it lasts about 8 hours. I was diagnosed twice as having adhd when I was a child with all the classic signs parents believe it was laziness and discipline issue. in my forties I took an appetite suppressant prescribed by the doctor it was like someone showed me how all the pieces fit in a puzzle . social aspect is unmeasurable connect to people because you're no longer 1 sided conversation and feeling I'm little off different or slower isn't there and anxiety level is dropped greatly hope this helped. even though their side affects ie headaches stomach issues can be a pain
