It may help for awhile, but it depends on the person. Some people swear by Tylenol, while ibuprofen helps others.
Treating the cause is the real issue. A cold compress, relaxation, or a neck massage can go a long way. Anything that relaxes you in addition to medication. Also massaging the point at the base of your skull is a big instant help. And massaging the skin between your thumb and forefinger for a few moments helps me tremendously.
We can't rid our lives of tension, but we can combat it with whatever relaxes us.
