I missed my pill for the beginning of week 3 (Sunday) and didn't realize it until the next day (Monday) at the time I normally take it. So I doubled up. Later on that night my husband and I had sex and he didn't use protection. It was about 8 hours after I had doubled up. So was I protected at that time? and you don't ovulate on the pill? This is the only time I have ever screwed it up in the 8 months I've been using it. So basically my question is, should I be freaking the hell out about being pregnant? lol should I go get Plan B?
Well, there is a slightly increased chance. When you miss a pill, you double up but you should really abstain or use condoms as back up for a week after the miss to be safest. One missed pill probably wont increase your chances enough to go get Plan b and let that screw you up! I wouldnt be overly worried but in the future, if you have a miss, be sure to use back up protection for seven days after, just to be safest, and if you have any more sexual encounters in the next 6 days be sure to have him use a condom. A woman should not ovulate on the Pill if she takes it correctly but when you miss pills, you have an increased chance for possible ovulation, therefore the reason to use back up protection.
