Does it affect in giving birth
Tramadol has been assigned to pregnancy category C by the FDA, which means animal studies have shown potential problems to the fetus. There are no human studies.
Ideally Tramadol should be avoided during pregnancy but may be used if the benefits to the mother outweigh the risks to the baby - you will need to discuss this with your doctor.
Tramadol has been shown to cross the placental barrier and reach the baby. Tramadol withdrawal in a newborn has been reported - the mother was a chronic Tramadol user.
