No experience but...
Pain in right or left LOWER abdomen !
Ectopics may rupture without women knowing they are pregnant especially if they are irregular to begin with.
Ectopics rupture and the bleeding into the abdomen will signal need to go to ER because the pain doesn't get better and it's intense.
However, you need a CBC to check for anemia with that much blood loss.
You need a change in your Meds and to see your gyne.
Are you fatigued? Do you get mildly short of breath with talking or walking ? Those are signs most people experience with anemia.
The pain is the first indicator of an ectopic pregnancy. Two birth control methods I have heard of that do lead to a high rate of ectopic pregnancies (that is where the contraception has failed; the failure rate is small) are IUD's and Plan B where in one study reported that Plan B pregnancies had a 10% chance of being ectopic. Nexplanon claim up to 99.85% protection and my guess would be that they know. It also seems notorious for causing weird bleeding issues. Back to the Doctor I'm afraid.
The best of luck getting it sorted (sorry that I did not speak from experience).
It is not unusual for women to begin having some heavy bleeding, or spotting/light bleeding, long term bleeding and irregular periods after their implant has been in a year or two and as they are getting close to replacement time. It doesnt sound like ectopic pregnancy, the symptoms you are having. I would recommend that you see your gynecologist or whoever did your implant though. There are ways to treat bleeding like yours. I dont think it is anything untoward, it is just inconvenient to you. I am assuming you can feel that your implant is in place with no problems?
