Do eye drops need to be dumped after just a month? I have left over but it didnt expire yet however I have the bottle for a year already. I was going to give it to my mom since she doesnt wish to purchase more and I figure my left over eye drops are better than none at all or am I mistaken?
Generally its not recommended to pass on the used eye drops kept over a year, please your mother should seek medical advice before she takes Durezol eye drops.
However, please do consult your pharmacist if you could pass on the med to your mom.
Eye drops should NEVER be shared by two people. This particular drug is used for swelling of the eye usually due to eye surgery. Infections can be transmitted by sharing eye drops, & any doctor or phamacist will tell you the same. If your Mother hasn't seen a doctor for her condition, she should do so immediately, & get her own prescription... Mary
Once the bottle is opened and used, the chance of contamination with bacteria increases dramatically. It should not be kept for a period of time and should never be used by 2 people because of this contamination.
