I was on zoloft for 13 years and got really depressed and anxious and wouldn't leave my house. I went to my Dr. and tried all kinds of different med and even TMS. On Cymbalta now and at first it was awesome but after 5 months I'm worse than when I started. I am calling in work all the time and have no interest in anything including eating or even sex. I feel trapped!!! Any ideas?
Hi, Tired!! Have you ever tried antipsychotics, anticonvulsants, or a mood stabilizer? Drugs like Seroquel, Abilify, Lamictal and lithium can be very helpful. Latuda might be worth a try although you may not have technically been diagnosed as Unipolar Depressive. Many treatment resistant depressives fall into that category.
Are you seeing a GP or a psychiatrist? I ask because I went through what you're going through for almost 30yrs ~ and almost didn't make it ~ until I was referred to a PDoc who gave me a battery of tests and started me on an entirely new regimen of medications which changed my life.
Hi Tired; You don't say what dose of Cymbalta you are taking, but one thing might be to Increase the dose which many people have to do in time. And I know I have also seen Abilify used with Cymbalta but in a lower dose than normal because Cymbalta increases the effect on it and if the dose is not adjusted the side effects of both get worse, but any doctor prescribing this should know this. depending on what dose of Cymbalta your taking it could be worth a try. I know this gets hard, but we have to keep putting one foot in front of the other. There has to be a trade-off here somewhere. you could talk with your doctor if the answer would go either way. And get you through this hurdle I know it is not fun at all.You could see what the doctor has to say and keep the chin up things well get better. Chuck1957 It is really up to the doctor and if he or she can't come up with something it may be time to get another opinion life well and can be better again. CEW.
I know that feeling all to well. Just stay strong until you and your Doctor find the right recipe of meds. I also found Adderall about 2 yrs ago and what a difference. I can actually start tasks and finish them now. I want to go to work and have conversations with people and just live life. It wasnt like that to long ago when, i couldnt leave the house unless in the middle of the night, panic attacks around people at stores/restaurants etc and just a grim look on life in general. I wish i found Adderall 15yrs ago, I am sure things would be different today. Good luck... Broke Homey
