I have been on 20mg of celexa, which was up'd to 40.. and 300mg of lithium for a little over a week now and was just prescribed 250mg of tramadol. Will I be ok??
Hi, the combination isn't recommended. Tramadol has SSRI properties, as does Citalopram, & taking them together can potentiate the risk of serotonin syndrome (A rare phenomenon, but also very serious). Lithium combined with Citalopram carries similar risks. Lithium combined with Tramadol can increase the risk of seizures. All of this sounds very scary, i know. But have trust in your doctor/psychiatrist. There are many warnings given to combination medications, all things need to be taken in to consideration. I am on a combination that carries high risks, but i am doing fine. I'll add the link for you to look through. Speak to your doctor/psychiatrist about any worries you may have: https://www.drugs.com/interactions-check.php?drug_list=679-0,1477-0,2221-0
