I have Bupivacaine mixed with Dilaudid in my pain pump. What does the Bupivacaine do?
My pain doctor is planning to add Bupivacaine to my pain pump on Monday. Bupivacaine is an anesthetic like lidocaine so it helps numb the nerves to reduce pain sensation. I had been on a pretty high dose of dilaudid without good results so we decided to try something else. She also hopes that it will reduce the amount of pain meds necessary to acquire better pain management. I am hopeful, but a little nervous, because I have been reading about the side effects and so have my husband and son, so they have some concerns. How has it done for you? Has it made a difference in your level of pain? Well good luck to you and I will check back with you when I know more:)
