Hello all! :) I was recently prescribed Xanax 1mg by my psych doctor for panic attacks and anxiety. It helps a lot but im a stay at home mom and it makes me sleepy which is not good considering my daughter is an energetic 1 year old! I started breaking them in half (as my doc said i could do) and that seems to not make me as tired but still a little zombie like. Will this go away with time?
Yes it will go away as you continue taking it and your body adjust to it. I do want to warn you though that xanax as well as all benzo's become habit forming rather quick especially xanax as it has a short half life and you end up needing more to feel it work. I wish you the best!
It will. But, as a woman your tolerance to benzodiazepines are not equivalent to a mans pound for pound. Same with alcohol. And, if you're mixing stuff it's exponentially worse. Even coffee or tea and with Xanax you don't want grapefruit juice. There's other considerations that I recommend talking to your nurse about. I've found nurses to have more knowledge than actual doctors when it comes to medication. That's my opinion.
