If I place a tennis ball up against my left lower back, it helps stop the pain. This has been going on for a while. I walk every day for 3 miles and it never hurts. It is only painful when sitting in a car.
Sounds like your sciatic nerve acting up.
When I had my third child, the Anesthesiologist hit a nerve when administering an epidural and ever since then, if I move a certain way, I pinch that nerve. I bent over the bath tub cleaning the inside wall and it hurt for a couple weeks after that.
It hurt worse while I sat down or bent down.
There are stretches you can do to help alleviate the pinched nerve.
Lay flat on your back, keeping your shoulders touching the ground, lift one of your legs straight into the air, keeping it straight, cross it to the opposite of your body, bringing it parallel to your waist and hold it for a few seconds. Repeat other leg.
It won't help instantly but if you do it throughout the day, it should start to help.
