prior blood pressure was 127/70 also taking metoprolol, lipitor just curious why pressure seems high
Normal daily Blood Pressure readings can vary widely, so any single blood pressure monitor reading is not reliable. What is important is your average blood pressure.
Your systolic reading (178) is probably a little high but the diastolic reading (70) is acceptable. Were you nervous, had you recently been exercising or drinking coffee, had you had a big night on the alcohol the night before??? Any of these factors could potentially be responsible for increasing your blood pressure reading.
It is very true that you must have much more info to tell if this is a true change. The time of day or night can also be a factor. There are also some people that have a rise in BP after they have eaten a meal. Coffee and other drinks can also have an effect if they are not decaf. To truly know if this is a real change you must track yourself for a few days. For me being on both of these drugs that you are also on Yes it is high. But your body is unique and needs to be treated that way.
