... it's for social anxiety. My anxiety is due to major family issues that I worry about all day everyday. I haven't started taking it yet and don't want to unless there's a chance it will help.
Hi, 1956! I understand your hesitation, but Zoloft has been prescribed extensively (and effectively) for most people) for both depression and all sorts of anxiety disorders. There's a very good chance that it will help you through this tough period but you won't know unless you give it a chance.
You might also look into talk therapy as a way to learn more effective ways of dealing with your everyday anxiety and social stressers.
Best regards and good luck to you! Wildcat
I've had to take it b4 and it worked great,I did NOT have any side effects. My daughter is 40& she's taken it for years, everyday. She swears by it. Bcareful B.C.some ppl think they have side effects just bc they read them. Try them for a month. It can take awhile for u to get the effects UR suppose to.
Hello 1956, my friend Wild Cat is correct. I am on 50 MG for depression and it is great. It will take about 6 to 8 weeks to get the full effect but it's worth it.
You won't know if it will help if you don't take it. Many of these drugs have "off label" uses and are very effective for them. Stop looking at side effects on the internet. Take the med, after about six weeks you will know what it is, and is not, doing.
Well sorry that major family issues isn't a diagnosis. Generally if something works for anxiety as Zoloft does it will help all forms of anxiety, OCD might be a exception. Listen to your Dr if you want help and it sounds like you might have other forms of anxiety that your Dr might of caught on to.
I’m in a similar situation. My anxiety and depression stems from PTSD from growing up in an emotionally abusive household. I don’t have social anxiety and do exceptionally well with other people, with public speaking, etc. Still, I was prescribed Zoloft and have been on it for about a week, I experience very mild symptoms, not at all as bad as many of the reactions I see on this site. Hopefully it will help you too!
