used to use alcohol to cope with my social anxiety. I could barely go to a social event or party without knowing i will be drinking. I haven't started taking my Lexapro yet, but will be shortly. I guess I'm looking for feedback from people using this pill if it takes away your craving to drink? Will i still feel uncomfortable and full of anxiety at a party, and feel the urge to drink? Or will the Lexapro give me the peaceful feeling of not even needing to drink and yet still in good spirits wanting to be social and have a good time?
Hi, i take the 'sister' medication (Citalopram) and it has worked wonders for me. Lexapro is prescribed predominantly for anxiety, and can really help in a lot of cases. As you have written in your comment, you realise that it takes around 4 weeks, give or take, to work to it's full potential. During this period you may experience some induction side effects, but these will pass. I would say give it a try, it could be the answer to your social anxiety problems...
