going through post menopause , vaginal dryness, pain with intercourse, burning feeling even when i don't have to urninate just sitting bothers me at times. after reading input from some others there was less side effects with lesser doses.
Hey, i just wanted to mention that the problem may not be the estrace. When a woman's hormones shift or drop drastically, sometimes the result can be a condition known as Bacterial Vaginosis, it can be an over growth of any of 7 bacteria or a protozoan and it produces pain, itching, burning, discharge, sometimes odor, most of the same symptoms a yeast infection produce. As that bacterial overgrowth mixes with the natural fluid that drains out of the vagina, it can almost burn the skin and tissue. There are treatments out there, Metro Gel and cleocin cream will kill the overgrowth and some women then get a yeast infection afterwards. There is another explanation of how a woman gets BV from Dr. James Christian at vaginosis.com. BV was what was causing my problems in that area and I have to periodically treat for it and it does help for quite sometime. That isn't too high a dose of Estrace to start with and if you can get the possible BV cleared up, the vaginal Estrace will help keep it from happening again soon.
I was started Estrace with every day for 3 weeks and then slowly tapered off. Your recommended dosage might be in regard to any adverse concerns with your personal medical history or family history, as this seems LOW.
Also I have read the dosage amounts that I was persribed, in other information found regarding the Estrace usage.
I did not have any negative side effects with Estrace.
