If it is just a magnesium supplement you need, it is likely to be magnesium gluconate though it is worth confirming with your doctor.
There are a number of magnesium "salts" used as magnesium supplements such as magnesium chloride, magnesium citrate, magnesium gluceptate, magnesium gluconate, magnesium hydroxide, magnesium lactate, magnesium oxide, magnesium pidolate, magnesium sulfate and magnesium glycinate.
Magnesium gluconate is one of the more common supplements. It is absorbed quickly and causes less diarrhea than many of the other magnesium salts.
Magnesium gycinate is high absorption magnesium, which means it is absorbed in the blood stream quickly.
