I've got to take a course of doxycycline for malaria prevention but I've just been tested for chlamydia and I'm positive, so will I have to take two courses of doxycycline or just one?
Hi Jane, when using Doxycycline as a prophylactic preventative should mean that you will have to take it the entire time you are in a Malaria infested area. Taking an extra course for Chlamydia is totally pointless, also Chlamydia is usually treated with different antibiotics so this is something I would like clarified by a doctor as to whether you should use a course of the regular two antibiotic treatment normally used or at least one of those antibiotics plus the Doxycycline.
PS. of 23 listed medications here 5 are doxycycline: https://www.drugs.com/condition/malaria-prophylaxis.html
