advised 50mg x 6 hourly for total 3 doses i.e 150 mg within 12 hours, prior to ct scan abdomen ( with contrast) to prevent allergic reaction to contrast.
I don't think that prednisone can cause pancreatitis, but probably covered the pancreatitis that you had. From my understanding prednisone reduces inflammation throughout the body. If you had a slight infection, which you possibly could have since you were having a abdomenal CT scan then prednisone might make it worse. Good luck pancreatitis is no fun. I hope your doctor is very aggressive with this infection.
Hi. I agree that pancreatitis which is inflammatory will not be enhanced with the pred. Expect a night of little sleep. Hot flashes. Drink lots of water to get the prednisone and the contrast from the scan out of your system.
However are you really taking pred or are you taking solumedrol which is normally given before contrast?
Good luck and I hope your results turn out with the answers you need.
