according to new recommendations of FDA the dose of acetaminmophen in combination prescription shoul not be more than 325mg,so how can i treat a patient with such a small dose ?
That is for combination drugs like opioids with acetaminophen not for treating fever. The recommendations are no more than 3000mg (in divided doses) per 24 hour period in someone who drinks alcoholic beverages and up to 4000mg (in divided doses) per 24 hour period in a non drinker. 650mg (2-325mg) acetaminophen q 4-6 hours not exceeding 3000-4000 mg per 24 hours is a recommended dosage for fever in adults. As mentioned, if the fever doesnt subside on this dose ibuprofen can be alternated in between doses of acetaminophen if there are no contraindications to ibuprofen.
