I started on 30 mg of Cymbalta a couple of weeks ago for anxiety but am also hoping it helps me lose weight. It sounds like others are experiencing significant weight loss. What mg is ideal to help with the weight loss? I haven’t lost any weight as of yet.
Hi ElleRoma. I started taking Cymbalta (60 mg) 10 years ago. Over these years I gained over 80 pounds and there are many others who have gained weight from Cymbalta too. I was always a small woman even after having my 5 children but Cymbalta changed that. Search questions on here about Cymbalta weight gain and you will find a lot to read through. I have heard from some people who have lost weight but it was mostly from people who didn’t want to lose it because they were already at a low weight. I started slowly tapering off Cymbalta last year because I couldn’t handle all the horrible side effects and I’m down to 7.5 mg. Almost every side effect is gone and I’ve started to lose a bit of weight. Most people say that they lose their weight gain from Cymbalta when they are completely off the medication. I can never advise anyone to take Cymbalta because of how it ruined my life. I hope and pray that I’m completely off Cymbalta by the new year and work at getting healthy again and get my life back. Please watch out for the side effects to creep up on you. That’s what it did to me. I didn’t connect all my problems to Cymbalta until I started searching it and found out that there were many people who were taking Cymbalta and were going through the same things that I was going through. Btw I took Cymbalta for chronic nerve pain but two of the side effects were anxiety and depression. Take care and I wish you the best. Cindy
Everyone is different and many gain and many lose on Cymbalta. I personally gained from it. The other person that answered said it can cause depression and anxiety. I found the opposite to be true. Many others do as well. Cymbalta is a very good antidepressant and is also known for helping with anxiety. Keep researching reviews on Cymbalta. The horrible effects some can have, are not common. Good luck.
