My senior citizen Mom has been using this med (Donnatal) for years. This nasty tasting green elixir was a lifesaver for her gastro issues (irritable colon, spastic colon..spasms,the runs you know the rest). A few years ago she was told they don't make it anymore and she started getting the purple liquid instead. It worked the same way! Now again a couple of years later, it's not covered ($100 +++ out of pocket) and she does not know what other companies make this (generic ok) or their names to see if they are covered on her plan. She prefers the elixr the pills never worked as well. Can anyone help out? Any and all info would be appreciated!
Part D is getting really weird about what they pay for. Someone needs to call the customer service number on her insurance card. They can tell her what they will pay for. My part D has decided that all my meds that have anything to do with pain or depression have jumped a tier, so it costs me more for them, and they've dropped even generic ones that they used to pay for. Donnatol elixir has phenobarb and belladonna alkaloids in it and that's controlled, so they don't like paying for controlled meds.
