she weighs 69 pounds and is taking tramadol 100mgs 3xs a day, can I safely increase her dose? She is really hurting, is terminal and can't be helped with surgery.
No i wouldn't recommend increasing the dose without first consulting the vet... but you could ask for additional pain relief such as Vetergesic. This is what i gave to my dog when he had a (terminal) gastric carcinoma. You can give the liquid orally at home. I'm so sorry to hear your sad news.
I don't know much about the increase of Tramadol regarding its safety. However,
depending on how long your dog has been suffering and the fact that her illness is
terminal, you might want to discuss euthanasia with your vet to relieve suffering
that won't end by using medications. I know how difficult this must be for you and
my heart goes out to you and your dog.
