I have fibromyalgia and keep muscle spasms in my neck and back muscles. These muscle spasms will not go away with physical therapy, massage, tens unit and exercise. Are there any better muscle relaxant drugs that could help me?
The answer to both of these questions is probably yes, but I don't know what med, as I am not a doctor. But I do have fibro and wanted to suggest you at least try amitriptyline, it worked for me, it is an older antidepressant, but actually helped me alot. I only needed 25 mgs at night. Each person is different in the way the fibro affects them. I found that I have to either change the pillow every 3 days, or if I notice a bad headache starting at night and it wakes me up, sometimes no pillow is better. Ice on the back of my head, neck and shoulders also will work for me when nothing else will. Sometimes EsgicPlus, which is acetaminophen, caffeine and butatlbital ( together they work to either constrict or dialate the veins in the back of head and neck, and they act as muscle relaxer) works, may have to take it a couple of days to get maximum sustainable relief. I would have to give a definite and profound yes to that question. The soma relaxes the muscle the codeine takes care of the pain. Together they work beautifully. Be cautious about driving or doing anything while taking them though, they may make you feel a little out of sorts.
To answer your question as a lady that has been dealing with your ailments, diagnosis plus few more dieases since turning 50 and I have used seversl different muscle relaxer. Soma's were the absolute worse one of the wthat I had the displeasure of using. Highly additive and not very helpful with the muscle spams. I have been taking Zanaflex 4mg, 3 times daily along with other medications for a few years and it has been a gift for spams relief...
