after treatment of 6 -12 months? What else is recommended for cmplete cure after treatment and no relapse??
From my experience, I am bipolar all my life, I am 41 years old, male,( manic depressive) suffer from anxiety OCD,insomnia, paranoia, etc.
There really is no cure for these conditions, now of course medication helps.
I have been on meds practically all my life and sometimes I am more manic and sometimes more depressed... but is a part of me, which I have learnt to accept , and have learnt to live with, and have self control.
Anxiety also can be treated, but it is also a condition that has no cure, again it can be controlled and you can be less anxious by taking your meds.
Sometimes as I mentioned you will feel ok, but other days you will not... you have to learn to accept your conditions..it makes life a lot less complex for oneself... I am not being pesimistic at all, just realistic... the sooner you accept who and what you have, the sooner you will start your process of adaptation. This is from my experience
Best wishes ... from a caring individual
Talk to your Psyachiatrist , you are not well informed.
NO, Depression is something you live with all your life.
The key is to learn how not to let yourself get into a repressed state. This is where a Psychologist comes in. Their trained in teaching you how to do what I just said , about not letting yourself get into a repressed state. Sounds fun huh. It can be done in time.
unfortunatly there is no cure for deppression.antidepressants arent magic pills..they are just a tool for many other treatments..now im not saying they dont help but they do not cure you ..i have been on antidepressant since 16 and you have to do other things to help you ..like counsiling, and i also recommend supplements if you are healthy you are less likely to be depressed
As most agree there is no cure, but after 2 1/2 weeks on Pristiq; on Tuesday I stopped feeling suicidal. So any day like that is good for me.I had to switch to it since Cymbalta quit working. Changing may help, try it. The only thing that kept me going before was knowing that my wonderful, extra supportive husband would be devastated. Today I want to live but I'm a long way from my goals. I'm still way too fatigued and on medical leave, since I couldn't finish my job in 8hrs. I will improve. I know we can get better, so hang in there. SharonH
