I can sit... Drive... Lie down... But I walk like Im on a boat... Bad... Taken four bad falls very precarious balance!.ALSO HAVE THE TINKLING AND NUMBNESS IN LOWER TORSO... bUT THE balance is the worst TO TRY TO FUNCTION WITH... HAVE TAKEN NO MEDICINE. HAD CONDITION OVER ONE YEAR !
My neuropathy is in both legs from my knees to my toes. I don't drive much anymore, but I, also, can lie down and sit in moderate comfort. However, I have HAD to use a cane to walk to keep my balance. The tingling and numbness is just something I have to live with these past three years.
It certainly can cause balance problems. If you are not able to completely feel every aspect of standing and walking it can cause issues with balance. I know there are physical therapists who deal with this problem - go online, call or ask around for who would be able to help you with this problem.
I have peripheral neuropathy with a balance problem. I cant drive(my honda is a 5 speed) and I've hit the wrong pedals several times with 3 accidents, because of the numbness in my feet. I have to sit in the shower after falling lots of times being in the hospital for cracked ribs and broken arm.I too have fallen walking on the "boat". also I cant look up nor close my when standing. I have it real bad in both my feet and fingers. The burning, sensative touch and the sharp tilgling is unbearable. All that and the unbalance is part of neuropathy.I take gabapentin 900mg a day but the doctors can't help me with the balance problem.Cause of the numbness in my feet,I've broken both big toes and both pinkys several times and both big nails are gone. I'm in bad shape and it has hindered my life.Wish I had an answer for you.(and me).Treeves1
