I have been taking both drugs for RSD pain for years and my hair looks like I have straw attached to my head. I have tried all the conditioners and haircuts that have been suggested but nothing has helped until I got desperate and shaved my head. Yes, looks really odd for a woman to have a shaved head and I have to tell people "No it wasn't cancer" so I would like to know if others have had a problem with this.
I have RSD and am also taking gabapentin but not tramadol. The hair change you are talking about could be because of a thyroid issue? Have you had a T3, T4, TSH and ANA blood test done? If the doc doesn't run all four tests, they could miss a thyroid problem. I have had enlarged thyorid glands for 10 years, however, when I went to the endocrinologist (I have seen more than one over the years) I was always told that I had a sluggish thyroid and they don't treat that. Recently, my PC ran all the above four blood test and some came up high and some came up low. Also had a positive ANA. The positive ANA number was low, but positive just the same. I am now going to see a reumatologist in Dec. When the numbers come up high and low, the combination means different things, so it could point to a specific condition that the docs need to treat. Hope this helps. Blessings, rollerskater.
