well thanks you everyone I learned alot about neurontin and lyrica I weigh 128lbs and I am 5"4 I work for many years to keep my weight off I have been over weight most of my life , so knowing theres a good chance of weight gain I will have to look for other options, for my chronic back pain
I have struggled with weight since having my 2 kids 16 yrs ago... basically I was 50 pounds over weight, up to 200lb avaerage , started dieting and got down to 188, (about i yr ago). I was put on neurontin gradually up to 1800 mg a day for a pseudotumor head pain (not for my DDD back and neck prob's, I've had 3 surgeries on my back and neck and actually just had a neck fusion 3 weeks ago so just getting out of hospital) and I did gain weight very easily. Now I am up to 207 approx. After the first 3 months, I noticed a steady increase of about1-2 pounds every week or two and low and behold a year later I am up 20 pounds... I have researched a ton online and 99% of people say they gain weight on neurontin, usually it's about 10% of your body weight, and I think a pharmacist or somehow I read that info, maybe online. I can not lose weight right now despite what I try... I hover between 206-208 pounds. Plus, a few months ago got my gall bladder taken out and that's made it even harder to loose weight. So, from my experience, yes I have gained on neurontin. Funny though, when I first asked my neurologist about if it made you gain weight, she said, only if your on higher dosages usually and for longer time. She's very good doctor but elderly and from everything I've researched for months I founf that most people do gain weight. Hope you have success, it might be up to everyone's own body though. Take Care.
