My migraines start in my right mid back, near my scapula, then run up my neck, through my teeth, and sinus, and end up between my right eye. The neck muscle pain is almost more painful then the migraine. Once the migraine passes, the neck muscle is sore for hours.
Hi, yes i get this! I injured my back and since then have had episodes like this when i over-do things. In my case it is muscular, the pain travels all through my back and neck and can give me severe headache as well. I take pain killers prescribed by my Dr which help a lot. When this starts, i get tense in anticipation of the pain which makes it worse and the pain can travel along my shoulders, as you experience and sometimes through my legs also, like sciatica. Have you had any examination for this?
I have suffered from neck pain causing migraines for as long as I can remember (I had a head/neck injury when I was 9). I had clean X-rays, MRI's and CT scans. Besides having "military neck" (neck that goes straight instead of having a natural curve) and slight disc degeneration they couldn't find anything. I finally went to see a rheumatologist and she has diagnosed me with fibromyalgia. I am now on a combination of drugs that have all but taken away my headaches. I still have them when the weather is bad or if I over do something. The med that has helped me the most with my headaches is 50mg of Imiprimine. It's a very old antidepressant, but it really helps with my headaches. I also purchased a pillow that has the beads in it. There are diffrent brands and they run about $30-$40. I got mine at Kohl's. I have slept so good since I got my pillow and it has helped with my neck pain. My mom uses one too and she says the same thing.
Mainly, just keep pushing your doctor and also try anything you can think of that could help you relax those muscles and hopefully you will find something that will help you. It took me about 25 years but I am finally starting to feel better. Good luck!
Yes! I was diagnosed with chronic migraines when I was about 7 years old. Have had spinal taps, MRIs, xrays... everything possible. Iv been to so mqany neurologists and been perscribed so many different kinds of medication it was crazy... and nothing worked. Iv suffered for them for years and would be in and out of the hospital on morphine. Then a friend recommended a chiropractor. THAT was the KEY to my chronic illness. since I have been going to the chiropractor... I get very minimal migraines. Example. I used to get 5 to 7 a week. Now its once a month if that... and I just used exederen back and body and it works wonders. I hope this helps.
