I have tried nerve blocks other meds for migraines ect... I suffer everyday with head pain due to 17 cranial facial surgeries and 4 craniotomy's too. I am ready to get a new pain doctor! I think he experiments on me and has detoxed me 3 times and then I was in such head pain that I passed out. I have taken narcotics before and I feel if they watch and follow me then all should be well.?
I have to agree with subzero. Find a new pain specialist. Have you ever tried the Imatrex? (sp) The injectable version? It worked well on my daughters migraines and it was an easy shot for her to do. She "outgrew" her migraines a long time ago. Not sure if they prescribe the injections anymore, but maybe ask your new guy about this. Sounds like you have been through hell and back and going back again... and again! Go get the help you desperately need. We are all rooting for you!
I have ha a headache from 2004 up to this time.
I had a blood clot in my head that has stayed there all these years. Last MRI with contrast, showed clot was still there about 1 1/2 years ago.
Morphine daily and Break through.I have never been hooked on Morphine, and This was proved a year ago at a headache clinic. Take as low as dose as possible and only use break through as needed. Always have respect for the drug you use. Morphine does least damage to your body over long period of time.
I thought my magraines were the worst in the world --I can't imagine going through what you have. I would take anything that releived your pain. You have been thru too much to be in pain. I think severe pain makes you literally go out of your mind and I agree with the above advice. I took fiorinal - a relatively mild med compared to some but very effective for any kind of headaches. You might give it a try - sometimes the lmild drugs are the most powerful. My thoughts are with you. I don't see why a Pain Management Dr. wouldn't deal with you - this is pain. Good luck.
You know every type of treatment for pain that your Doctor? ? ? dosen't aggree with gets labeled "Drug Abuse" and once "THEY"? hang that sign around your neck, you are completely and totally FUC_ _ D! I know first hand as i'm an Alcoholic. Even though I have 21 years sober, I can't even get Tramadol legally because sociaty / THEY say "give an Alcoholic one drink that contains alcohol , and that alcoholic is "OFF TO SEE THE WIZARD", so since I have a very painful form of Arthritis [I too have passed out, 3 times in 4 months] and since pain will kill and severe pain is the last step before insanity, I'm forced to take what I can find black market, sometimes paying $6/pill. "Pain Management" is just a front for a bunch of idiots that can't earn a paycheck any other way ! ! Sacosam
I have chronic, status migraines (yes, everyday) and, though narcotics may cause rebound headaches, there are times where you just need real relief from the pain. Headache specialists tend to stay away from narcotics; but they will even use narcotics as needed. I've found Pain Mgt doctors to be more willing to help with narcotics than others.
Try your best not to get labeled as a 'drug seeker', which seems to happen if you need to use the ER at local hospitals.
