Enbrel (Etanercept) works by blocking the chemical messenger Tumor Necrosis Factor (TNF) which is responsible for triggering inflammatory, skin-damaging response in psoriasis.
Enbrel is helpful in relieving psoriasis and is particularly helpful to those patients who show response in first 2 weeks. And after 4-6 weeks the progress catches up and the skin starts to look better. But this varies from patient to patient and hence your doctor may prescribe other medications along with Enbrel to improve efficacy.
