is there any procedure you've tried that has made the pain tolerable? i have had a nerve block done (mid back area was injection site) which helped a bit and will be getting another soon. i do take meds for the pain, 60 mg morphine (extended release type) every 6 hrs, 50 mg of demerol 3x per day, and 1 mg. xanax 3x per day and lots of motrin. still have pain spikes that can last for hours, never cried so much in my life. also, any other meds you may have tried that brought you better relief? i was wondering about oxycontin? thanks for reading and any help.
I too have tried the nerve blocks. After 10 procedures did bring some relief.. and didn't have any for that area for 2 years post. Medication wise I haven't taken morphine in particular but I have taken OPANA ER (NEW VERSION) and OXYCONTIN ER (NEW FORMULA) decent results with both. Pound for pound the Opana moves down the body and was more effective at target pain, I stopped taking it due to the shortage.. I take Oxy ER 20 mg 3x daily with 2 breakthrough. Oxy stays stays in the brain to control symptoms but its pretty decent for my pain control. It depends on how many things/ factors/ and some have trouble breathing when taking any or all of these. Trial an error. Wish you the best and hope the shots work well for you. Years down the road from mine my pain came back with a vengeance and those areas treated with shots are covered with arthritis. It does buy time though and help for years before it happens (so as to not scare you) .. I did very well on minimal medication for 7 years. So person to person being all different they are worth it and talk to your doctor about what may come later.. Good Luck.
