I too have chronic pain and have researched this information on the web and posted questions of my own about marijuana on this site. Yes, to put it bluntly, marijuana does help with chronic pain.
You may not be able to use it legally in your state, but I certainly am not judging you by any means! One must do what one can to stay active while suffering from RA or any other disease that causes pain like you describe.
There are medications such as Marinol, that are made from marijuana, THC extracts if I recall correctly (and I may NOT recall correctly!!)
Please, do some research by googling marijuana for pain relief.
Best wishes jerry, hope you feel better soon!
jerry333, it does help with pain. I agree with Sweetlemon, you need to research it. I know a person in thier 60's who use this for RA and the doc knows. I heard my fathers cancer doc ask him if he wanted it for pain, he said no. But you need to aware of what you are doing, people put all kinds of stuff in it and you never know. I personally think it should be legal everywhere for doc's to write of pain. Don't get me wrong, NOT TO GET HIGH!! just for pain. Look up Montel Williams story. I would tell you just don't let it lead to something else.
im smoking right now... but not legally..lol... yes the montell willaims story is great. actually the show "the dr oz show" just had a show last week about this topic and it was GREAT... montel was on there too talking baout his story, you should youtube it, or go on his website and watch it. it was first aired 3/29/11 but they just replayed it last week, it was called "Medical marijuana:is it time to make it legal?"
Hi jerry! Nice to meet you. I'm very sorry about your pain.
The answer to your question is yes. I live in Canada & we have legalized medicinal marijuana available for doctors to prescribe. The patient has to apply for a licence through our Federal Government.
The 2 main varieties of marijuana (marihuana) are Indica & Sativa. Hybrids are developed by breeders to supply licenced, approved growers according to the cannabinoid profiles & desired effects. Therefore, the hybrids become a customized product for the end user. Indica has the most pain blocking qualities.
Check to see where it's allowed & any regulations or restrictions or stipulations. Allow time for the application process. Do research. You'll also have to locate a compassionate doctor who's licenced to prescribe marijuana. I'm unsure if pain management specialists are licenced in prescribing cannabis. I have heard positive comments about the pain blocking abilities of cannabis. :)
Good luck with your quest. May you have improved health!
Have a good summer! from Wendy :)
